Meet Aimee, a primary school teacher and mum.
At just 31, Aimee's life changed in an instant. A primary school relief teacher and mother of two, she discovered a hard lump in her breast during a routine self-check in late 2024. Days later, her fears were confirmed when she was diagnosed with stage 2B ER/PR breast cancer.
"The whirlwind of appointments began immediately," Aimee recalls.
Her greatest motivation was her family. "My priority was to live a long, healthy life so I could watch my children grow up," she says. In April 2025, Aimee made the brave decision to undergo a double mastectomy, giving herself the best chance at recovery.
“ My joining PBCF’s Can-B Fit workshops was the beginning of a change in mindset towards exercise. Having a weekly commitment really helped to set aside time each week for exercise and I began to feel the benefits. I loved the group aspect and that we had a connection. I have set goals that post rehabilitation, I will find an exercise buddy and encourage each other to exercise and continue this new-found health kick.”
