Volunteers Needed

We are now recruiting volunteers for the rewarding role of CanCare Navigator in the St George and Sutherland area.

Join our small team of volunteer CanCare Navigators who support people with cancer. In this role you can volunteer at a time and place that is convenient for you and the person you are supporting.

CanCare Patient Navigators

A CanCare Navigator is a trained volunteer who “walks alongside” a person with cancer, providing companionship and support for some of the new challenges faced following a cancer diagnosis.

It’s a rewarding experience where your support, often for just a few hours a week, can make real difference. Helping to find and connect to community services, better understand the healthcare system and just ‘being there’ can make all the difference in getting them the best possible health outcome. You will be trained and supported by our CanCare Support Navigator.

If you are

  • recently retired and interested in volunteering
  • a health student who wants to get some experience working with people
  • wanting to make a difference to someone’s life
  • a cancer survivor or looking for a rewarding volunteering role, or
  • someone caring for a person diagnosed with cancer

you can become a CanCare Navigator today.

 Volunteering is a great way to:

  • Build confidence and develop new skills;
  • Gain work experience and meet new people
  • Improve your health and stay active
  • Make a difference to someone’s life
  • Express gratitude for help you received in the past – ‘giving back’
  • Be recognised and make a difference to your community
